Michele and Geoff have been instrumental in supporting greater teacher understanding of how to capitalise on the affordances of digital resources produced by The Learning Federation for Australian and New Zealand schools. The Learning Federation has produced thousands of these resources sourced from the major cultural institutions around both countries.
The digital age provides great opportunities for teachers to enliven and extend their teaching and learning programs and accelerate learning. Unfortunately professional development in educational jurisdictions has not kept pace with the affordances offered by the digital age.
Enter Geoff and Michele: Thanks to the tremendous understanding they both have of multiliteracies they were best placed to:
- Prepare comprehensive professional development materials for all educational jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand to use with education personnel and teachers that were stimulating, provided understandings of the power of multiliteracies and used The Learning Federations’ digital resources as an anchor for those understandings
- Provided training for The Learning Federation Contact Liaison Officers (there is one in every jurisdiction in all states and territories and New Zealand) to support them grow professional development in their respective jurisdictions
- Write a shorter pamphlet for national publication to increase interest and expand teachers’ professional horizons.
All facets of the work they delivered for The learning Federation were delivered on time and within budget and will, given the exceptionally high quality of the material produced, have a shelf life that extends for years to come.
