What’s happening so far in 2014

  1. We conducted a 12 month long-term project in Tasmania involving teachers in Action Research Cycles (TALC). The Tasmanian Department of Education Professional Learning Institute funded the project. It involved working with three networks of teachers in the Burnie, Wynyard and Zeehan in March May June and October
  2. While in Tasmania working on TALC  we conducted a series of professional learning sessions based on our latest book (Classroom Talk: Understanding dialogue, pedagogy and practice, PETAA 2014) for local ALEA groups in the North West and Hobart.
  3. We continued working in a number of schools on long-term projects. These included a state school in Ipswich and a Catholic school in Brisbane. We will be attending the Children’s’ Book Council of Australia (CBCA) on 17-19 May.
  4. In August we presented the keynote address at the Brisbane Catholic Education Office Conference. This conference showcased the classroom- based research that a network of teachers had completed with us over a period of 12 months.
  5. In September we will be presented two papers at the New Zealand Literacy Association (NZLA) annual national conference.
